Gifted Identification Update (August 4, 2020)

Plans are underway to resume gifted identification this fall. The division-level Gifted Identification/Placement Committee will meet throughout the months of August and September to make decisions regarding eligibility and placement for gifted services. Parents/guardians will be notified as decisions are made. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Sara Frasnelli (Briggs) at frasnesl@pwcs.edu.

Delivery Of Services Update (August 4, 2020)

In 2020-21, gifted education services will be delivered virtually through Canvas during the first quarter. Information and sample schedules are available on the PWCS Return to Learn FAQ Page. Please contact Sara Frasnelli (Briggs) at frasnesl@pwcs.edu for additional information.

Unity Braxton Middle School's gifted program, SIGNET (Schools Involved in Gifted Needs of Education Today), services grades 6-8 students identified as requiring gifted services in Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and/or Science. More information may be found on the Prince William County Gifted Education Program site.

If you notice your student strongly inclined towards a content area above, critical and/or creative thinking, communicating, or any other supported qualities listed in the "Parent Report" file (in the Forms & Documents page at the bottom), and/or you would like more information about how to refer your student or gifted services provided, please email Sara Briggs at frasnesl@pwcs.edu.

Unity Braxton SIGNET services for 2020/2021 are scheduled during Encore for Quarters 1 and 2, then through a pull-out program on a rotating schedule for Quarters 3 and 4. Open-SIGNET may be offered throughout the year, as scheduling allows.
